31 companies, Reel and Green Wind sign record-breaking PPA for new wind park in Ikast, Denmark
The PPA is among the first - and the largest by number of signatories - ever signed for an onshore wind asset in Denmark. It surpasses the previous record of 25 signatories for a solar park in Djursland, also provided by Reel.

31 companies have signed a record-breaking Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Reel to secure the construction of three new wind turbines in Vindpark Ulkær Mose near Ikast and Bording. The turbines are being developed by Green Wind, in collaboration with Vestjysk Bank, and are scheduled to begin operation in late 2026.
Once live, the turbines will produce 36.5 million kWh of renewable electricity each year - enough to power over 8,100 households and potentially save an estimated 4,300 tons of CO₂ annually (and 109,000 tons of CO₂ emissions over its lifetime - based on the project's Environmental Impact Assessment).
A milestone for Danish onshore wind
This PPA is one of the first signed for an onshore wind park in Denmark - marking a shift in how future projects may be realized. PPAs are long-term contracts that fix the electricity price for new renewable energy projects, ensuring the revenue stability required to secure financing and make construction possible.
The 31 companies in the PPA include local companies, such as Ege Carpets and Niebuhr Gears, and several large Danish companies, including Aasted and Danica Ejendomme. For the participating companies, these agreements represent more than an electricity purchase: they are tangible contributions to Denmark’s clean energy future.
"Through a PPA agreement with Reel, we are not only helping to enable the construction of a new renewable energy park, but we are also securing the price we pay for electricity, reducing the risk of rising energy costs."
Rasmus Niebuhr, CEO and owner, Niebuhr Gears
With many of the PPA signatories based in the surrounding area, developer Green Wind sees Vindpark Ulkær Mose as a strong example of how the energy transition can generate local value.
“At Green Wind, we believe the energy transition succeeds when local interests, environmental responsibility, and energy production go hand in hand. Vindpark Ulkær Mose demonstrates how collaboration between communities and industry can turn ambitious climate goals into concrete results.”
Flemming Reinholdt, CEO, Green Wind.
A flexible model that expands access to renewable energy
PPAs are traditionally complex and rigid. Reel’s model breaks that mold by allowing businesses to choose 3-, 5-, or 10-year contracts - offering both flexibility and tangible impact. This adaptable structure ensures that even companies new to renewable sourcing can meaningfully participate, lowering entry barriers and accelerating Denmark’s energy transition.
“Our goal at Reel is to make the energy transition actionable for every business, not just the biggest players. By offering flexible PPA terms, as we’ve done for the Ulkær Mose project, we’re proving that sustainability can scale when it adapts to real business needs.”
Anders Engtoft Meldgaard, CCO, Reel
Building new capacity, restoring nature
Green Wind’s three new turbines are part of a larger re-powering project, with a total of 11 turbines to be established in the area. This project ensures renewable energy works in harmony with biodiversity.
The park is positioned across agricultural land interwoven with hedgerows, ponds, and heathland. A 3,400 m² nature area will be created to help ensure that the park also strengthens the local ecosystem.
